I am new to your page. I have been on my own study of wicca. I have met a few who claim to be, but they are just as weird as the new neighbor. Claim to be something of some culture, then you find out they cheat on their loved ones, etc., etc. Who out there is real in that path, that has chosen them, to follow their own path. People think you are crazy. I have the bible thrown in my face everyday living in Texas. I am from Maine. I find smooth comments to get out of it. But man, it's rough in the south. I am rambling now. What do ya'll think.

I can relate. I moved from the San Francisco Bay Area to the mountains of North Carolina. Culture shock! It is not as bad as you describe, but religious intolerance IS much more prevalent here than where I come from. It is very tragic to observe. Coming, as it does, from ignorance and fear, it does nothing but promote mistrust, hurt and anger.
Unfortunately, ethics, or lack there of, can be found in people who claim to follow any path or religion. No one has a corner on the market. Since paths and religions are made up of people, they are also filled with all the human foibles that people possess.
I wish you a Merry Yule and Bright Solstice! Feel free to email me privately at any time. I know that it is my Internet connections that keep me sane, to a great extent, now that I live in this area. |
