sample greenman title

This is a Green Man theme page.  The Green Man motif has many different faces and variations.  Found in many cultures around the world, the Green Man is often related to natural vegetative deities springing up in different cultures throughout the ages.  Primarily it is interpreted as a symbol of rebirth, or "renaissance," representing the cycle of growth being reborn anew each spring.

Above you see a sample of how a web page title could be inserted into the Green Man title image created for this set.  There is a blank of the image in the .zip file below.    If you don't have a graphic program capable of doing that, e-mail me and I will do it for you as time allows.  Below you will find the Greenman graphic divider and leaf bullet designed for this page.  There are also clipart buttons: e-mail, and guest book.  Coordinating navigation graphics that could be placed at the bottom of each page if appropriate are also included.

greenman bulletCernunnos, Sylvanus, Derg Corra, Green George, Jack in the green, John Barleycorn, Robin Goodfellow, Puck and the Green Knight all partake of the Green Man's nature; it has also been suggested that the story of Robin Hood was at least partly born of the Green Man mythology.

greenman bulletThe Greenman is the symbol of nature's rebirth in the spring; he is the guardian of the forests; he is the protector of the wild places; and he is a positive masculine image of men as caretakers.

greenman bulletMany modern Pagans and Wiccans, especially men, also recognise the Greenman as a representation of the masculine aspect of the Divine.

greenman bulletThe Oak King and the Holly King are part of Celtic mythology, and are often seen as aspects of the Green Man. They are usually considered "twin gods," or sometimes two aspects or manifestations of the same god, often the Horned God. The Oak King rules the Summer (and is sometimes called the "Summer King") and the Holly King rules the Winter (and is thus called the "Winter King").
