blank title

This is a Christian themed design I created based on the sanctuary lamp and incense often accompanying Christian worship.  Incense has been employed in the worship of the vast majority of Christian groups since antiquity, particularly in the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox Churches, but also in Anglican, Episcopal and Lutheran Churches.  Christian churches often have at least one lamp continually burning before the tabernacle, not only as an ornament of the altar, but for the purpose of worship.

Above you see a blank title graphic with hanging candles for you to insert a web page title on.  If you don't have a graphic program capable of doing that, e-mail me and I will do it for you as time allows.  Below you will find the Chrisitan votive graphic divider and bullet designed for this page.  The buttons with an altar candle are designed for this page and are linked for this site so that you can navigate through it.  All the graphics and HTML for this web set are in the .zip file available for download below.

bullet A thurible, a type of censer, is used to contain incense as it is burned.  A server called a thurifer sometimes assisted by a "boat bearer," approach the person conducting the service with a thurible with burning charcoals. Incense is taken from what is called a "boat," and usually blessed with a prayer.  The thurible is then closed, and taken by the chain and swung towards what or who is being incensed.
bullet The smoke of burning incense is viewed by many of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox faith as a sign of the prayer of the faithful.  In the Book of Revelation, incense symbolises the prayers of the saints in heaven - the "golden bowl full of incense" are "the prayers of the saints" (Revelation 5:8 cf. Revelation 8:3) which infuse upwards towards the altar of God.
bullet The sanctuary lamp is placed before a tabernacle in the Roman Catholic, Old Catholic, and Anglican churches as a sign that the Blessed Sacrament is reserved, or stored, there.  It is also used in Lutheran churches to represent the presence of God.  The sanctuary lamp may also be seen in Eastern Orthodox Churches.  Other Christian denominations burn the lamp to show that the light of Christ always burns in a sin-darkened world.
bullet The lamp may be suspended by a rope or chain over the tabernacle or near the entry of the sanctuary, or it may be affixed to a wall.  It is also sometimes placed on a ledge beside the tabernacle or on an individual stand placed on the floor.  Olive oil or beeswax candles are often used in such sanctuary lamps.
